French ISPs React to Proposed Online Surveillance Law in France

A few months after three gunmen killed 17 people in Paris the French government is reviewing a new online surveillance bill on Monday. The bill would require ISPs to monitor for suspicious behavior and give law enforcement and intelligence agencies access to live phone and cellular data for anyone suspected of being connected to terrorism. Rogers Transparency Report Shows Law Enforcement Data Requests Declining in Canada

Telstra Customers Can Access Metadata for the Same Fee as Law Enforcement

Telstra will let customers pay to access their own metadata as part of its ongoing efforts to improve transparency about what information is tracked and provided to law enforcement agencies without warrants. Dutch Court Throws Out Data Retention Law After Pressure from ISPs, Privacy Rights Groups

Internet service providers in the Netherlands will no longer have to retain customer metadata. The District Court of the Hague axed the law earlier this week that required telecommunications providers and ISPs to store customer metadata for a year to aid in law enforcement investigations.
